I was happy with win 7 until a cup of coffee did it in.(mea culpa)
Went to Cosco to see replacements and options and declined.
On Cosco online I bought a HP with WIN 10 factory loaded as the local Cosco rep suggested that on line down loading would be forever as we were not hi-speed at home.

Quite honestly I am very pleased with my 10 (purchased Cosco online with 24 hr delivery) as I have had less problems than the internet has suggested.
OK, there is a bit of learning involved but nothing that I can't handle.
(turned out that my version could no be sold in Quebec as it was not all french, OK as I am of English upbringing) The difference being that the keyboard is in English and against Quebec wanting French as primary even on the keyboard.
My only complaint is that I need to select USA English every time I re boot otherwise I get all kinds of french accents that I don't want.

You can use the above program to disable all Windows 10 updates and installs. I have installed it on 3 of my computers - love Windows 7 Pro do not want to update at this time.

The Windows 10 "Anniversary Edition" is rumored for release July 29. It would be prudent to disable updates before that date unless you want to be a M$ test "pioneer" (the guy with arrows sticking out of him).

Switch to Linux Mint, you'll never look back.

I am looking into that. It appears that if I want to run any Windoze compatible software I have, it will be necessary to use a virtual machine, which requires a Windoze OS. Am I missing something?

We gave the Mrs. 2 yr old Dell to our church. Bought an iMac and never plan on coming back to Windows.
We'll replace mine as soon as we get over the financial CPR being administered.
We just got tired of replacing our PCs every couple to three years cause they just got too slow or crash ridden.
What a joy this Apple is to use.

Not true. I have windows 10 and deleted photos do show in the Recycle Bin.

The Recycle Bin keeps your deleted files until the garbage consumes about 5 percent of your computer's available space. Then it purges your oldest deleted files to make room for the new. Is it possible your Recycle Bin is full and that caused your photos to be automatically purged?

Not true. I have windows 10 and deleted photos do show in the Recycle Bin.

Also, if you are deleting from a NAS, attached drive, or mapped drive, there is no recycle bin and deletions are permanent. Same thing with phones/cameras as they are treated as an attached drive.

I run Linux for a few machines, they are dual boot. I started playing with Linux after my disappointment with W8. I run Windows 10 on almost everything else. I think Windows 10 is probably the single best OS MS has ever made, asides from MSDOS 6.22 But that is mostly for nostalgic video gaming reasons. I will say that W10 needs a fully compatible system. Some of the older PCs are not performing well with it, there is no support for some older peripherals or cards due to the fact that there are no drivers developed for them.

Upgraded the wife's laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 two days ago....so far, no problems. (keeping fingers crossed)
