Windows 10

I keep getting notices several times a day that "My Windows 10" is ready. I'm using Windows 7. Is there any reason to change. Or am I the last person on earth to do so?

If you've switched, what's your opinion of Windows 10?

Same here;I have windows 7 and very happy with it.I am going to wait until they get all the "kinks 'worked out.My main concern if my older programs are going to work with 10.

I upgraded to 10 from 7 no problems. But to each his own! Good luck

the upgrade is free....for a while..that's why you get the requests, because you'll have to pay later.

I updated one of my machines. It's alot like win8...neither of which I'm particularly fond of.

Many browser 'addons' won't function on win10.

Do a google search for windows 10 problems.

No need to upgrade at all. Microsoft just wants you to download the spyware that is built into Windows 10 so they can sell all your information. It is all buried in the fine print of the license agreement that you have to agree to. Did you really think this "free upgrade" was happening because Microsoft was a bunch of nice people??
Also ... NEVER do any Windows upgrade until at least the release of service pack 1. They have never gotten a Windows release right yet.

Lots of people, including a son-in-law in the computer business, are upset about the "privacy" issue with Windows 10. So the son-in-law has been recommending against upgrading to Windows 10. However, he sent me the following email just an hour ago:

Just wanted to let you know that today Microsoft released an Update that adds the intrusive privacy telemetry to all version(s) of Windows 7 and Windows 8 too.

For me, personally, Windows 10 is so much better than anything I've used the last few years that, so far, I'm glad I updated a laptop, and bought a new notebook that came with Windows 10.

Son-in-law found it very difficult to get rid of all the data gathering stuff in Windows 10, so he's reverted back to Windows 7 and shut off all updates for his home computers.

I upgraded from windows 7 to 10, while I had 3 issues to resolve before I got the upgrade to install. I have windows 10 running for 3 weeks now and NO problems. The upgrade resolved a startup issues that at least 3 other people I know with Toshiba PCs have and a slow shutdown problem.

I have watched a number of videos and hopefully turned off most of privacy related features.

My suggestion to those that are thinking of upgrading as always backup everything and research your software to make sure it runs under windows. I did have to upgrade, at no charge, both Kasperky and AOL.

At least for me, I cannot say I gained or lost any functionality.

Really no reason to upgrade at this time. You can do it free for the next 11 months. By that time the dust should settle and M$ should have most of the problems resolved. Lightning zapped my Windows 7 PC a few days ago. Ordered a new one from Dell with Windows 10. Waiting for delivery. Can't say I'm looking forward to finding and turning off all the M$ spyware BS.

The scroll on my touch pad hasn't worked since the upgrade.

I don't like to use a touchpad, so I have a wireless mouse for each computer. In the past, just having the mouse disconnected the touchpad pointer, but now with Windows 10, every time I restart the computer, BOTH the mouse AND the touchpad pointers are active. So I can accidentally hit the touchpad and move the pointer when I didn't want to do so. Therefore, I've learned every time the computer is restarted to go to the control panel/mouse/disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached.
