WINTER FINALLY HERE

   / WINTER FINALLY HERE #21
I bought the RTV this fall and got the snow blade with hydraulic angle, cab, heater, etc. I figured that guaranteed it wouldn't snow for at least 5 years.:( We finally got a few inches late last week and I got to try out the snow plow Friday night. I've always used an open tractor with a rear blade in the past and it sure was nice to sit in the heated cab with a cold beer and plow the roads.:D
This morning it's -9 and they're calling for 1 to 2 inches of snow today and 3 to 5 more tonight.:D Looks like I'll get to play some more. At least it's going to warm up some - mid 20's.

BTW, my wife thought I was an idiot for buying the snow plow with the RTV because we haven't had much snow over the last several years in these parts. Now I've reached genious status in less than a week.:p Amazing how that works!

frank: I live in northern Erie county and had planned to go to my farm in catt. county near Little Valley this morning for a few days. I called my neighbor who usually keeps my drive plowed out, he said the wind is blowing so hard that by the time he gets the drive clear to the bottom, the top is already drifted in 3 ft. deep. I think I'll wait until the wind lets up to make the trip.

It has been a lot of fun keeping up with this snow recently. My friend finally caught me as I have been plowing out their driveway in town as I went from my house to one of the apartments. They kept trying to figure out who was plowing their driveway but they finally caught me :)

Ever since Sunday morning I have not had much luck, I put the new F-250 into a snowbank right next to New Era on Rt 5 Sunday night as I was trying to get to Derby to pick my daughter up. The truck wasn't damaged except for the running board has a small ding where I hit a highway marker. A nice guy with another Superduty ended up pulling me out, broke his one chain in the process. I did meet a lot of nice people that night though as I was stuck in the snow. One tow truck driver offered to pull me out for only $115 cash when I balked he dropped it to $80 but I already had called Ford's roadside assistance. Still seems kind of high to me but I don't know what people charge normally. Anyway, the next morning I ran the 1920 out of fuel as I wasn't paying attention (it was a little cold), well, the fuel pumps on our tanks are froze so I had to buy road fuel and put in it. Of course it was so cold the fuel didn't want to flow very easily to the injectors and it took a couple hours before I finally got all 4 lines bleed. The first three went fast, the last one was the pain. All in all it was a great couple days ;0 Have fun.

You got that right. We got 28" since yesterday. Almost 36" up at my son's house 17 miles NE of me. Plowed for 4 hours yesterday and spent 11 hours today with tractor / loader / snowblower and shoveling two roofs off. About ready to hit the sack now. I posted pics in toolcat thread but don't know how to link there so here they are again.

Ava is doing great. She has been wearing the Amish hat I bought for my dad and won't leave it alone. So now she has one coming in her size :) I would post a pic but I still can't post pictures on here. Some day I will get things figured out. Have you heard from Wayne? It has been a long time since I have talked with him.
