Have you considered using them for low-impact logging or thinning operations? We have a couple of operations here that offer the use of horses to minimize property damage snaking out trees.
I've seen a few of them at work and always been impressed at the job they do. Hardly a mark anywhere except a few hoofprints and a manure, and the property owners get the biggest kick out of seeing horses work.

Considered it? Yes. But there's not a lot of forest in my little corner of the bluegrass and I'd spend most of my time (and $$) trailering to and from potential logging sites.
