I took the wife to work this morning. It's about a twenty mile one way trip. The main roads, HWY 78, Beltline, etc had dry or at least non-icey tracks where the posted speed limit was plausible if alone.
I say if alone because there is the usual conflict between the two extremes of one going too slow for conditions and those going too fast. It happens in the fog, the rain, snow, and especially on icey roads.
I saw at least four pickemups that had backed out of their driveway and then stuck against the opposite curb, blocking half the road. I was in the Bravada and had intentionally not taken the big tow straps that I carry on the truck. Someone that stupid is best left alone as close to home as possible.
The weatherbug says it's thirty degrees down the road at the high school. I believe it. It appears to me there is a layer of ice just floating above the pavement. A little sunshine and we will have more slush and ickypoo than icey road even if it stays below thirty two degrees.
At least we didn't have a whole bunch of spinouts. I guess the warnings on the news and telly sank in a bit.
Maybe I'll get some work done today.
