Thanks for that. That is good to know.
I am not sure about down there in the 'States, but up here in Canada October 1st is when the refineries switch to 'winter' fuel and they cut the fuel at the source.

Here in VT our diesel supplier will tell us if you ask their office when the fuel has been cut. I don't know whether they do it locally or at the refinery that supplies them.

As stated earlier I treated mine with Howes diesel treat, so hopefully I am good.

In cold weather, summer diesel can form waxy flakes and it also becomes gelatinous. The flakes can clog filters and high viscosity effects are obvious (flow). Some Diesel applications include fuel heaters for this reason but adding kerosene (or even up to 20% gasoline) is the simple solution. If in doubt, you can put as fuel sample in a glass jar at the storage temp; if it gets cloudy it needs to be diluted.

My fuel is stored outside in a metal locker. Quite a while back I was clearing snow on a bitter cold day with my old Satoh. The Satoh has a very fine screen inside the filler neck. I went to fuel the tractor and the fuel clogged the screen. I treat my fuel now. I am still treating with the same quart bottle of some NAPA stuff I got that day.

As someone who just had a thoroughly gelled up tractor that was filled with what I thought was winter fuel, I recommend treating your fuel in your can and tank regardless of what your supplier says. Powerservice white is good. And pick up a jug of diesel911 too.
