I'm a bit amazed at how much snow we've had here in NH in the last 4 weeks. It is pretty though.

I am yet another Marylander... (no snow, so we have time to cruise the internet and write posts) but I remember the Winter of '77 in Indiana- the northern part of the state is flat, and the county roads mostly run N-S and E-W, so when the wind blows the snow (and, it does!) you can get humongous drifts. We had a nice blizzard, followed by lots of wind. Some of the county's N-S roads had 8-10' of snow blocking them- winds from the west. Big front end loaders would clear lanes, but they often just stopped at the last farmer's drive in the county, so the road beyond was a 10' wall of snow. Frustrating, but fun. Of course, if you met someone travelling the other way, one of you had to back up until you found a drive to shelter in, sometimes a 1/2 mile, since those were big farms. Schools were closed for several weeks, until they could deal with the snow.

Don't forget the mad rush for snowshovels and snowblowers. What the heck happened to last years shovels? Reluctant to mention this but I plow for a Town Highway department. Seeing people all pizzed off and screaming everytime it snows and we plow them in has me wondering......Why the heck to you live in New England? How long have you lived here? I see snowflakes as pennies from heaven. And even after some long shifts, I am still eager to come home and play with the tractor.
