Any ideas on where to find a kit or plans on a wipe type applicator for Roundup. Several years ago I remember seeing a kit that you could buy that included the fittings and short pieces of rope. You took a 6" diameter pvc pipe and drilled holes, put the fittings in and strung the rope between the holes. The idea being that the taller weeds would make contact with the rope soaked Roundup, while the smaller crops were spared.

See if you have a local farmers co-op. At our local one they sell the parts or a wick made to your specified width. Several years ago 8' cost about $120. There is actually something to know about exactly which size and type of rope to use. I bought one and used it a few times, until I discovered 2,4D. Agent orange is a wonderful but scarrly powerful weed killer.

You might also check with Roundup. As I remember the rope colors matched the toundup colors.

Google search "Roundup wick parts" had a lot of hits.

I made one a few years ago to save some flowers I planted at work I took som pvc pipe and made a spray bar and hung carpet strips down and made my own wiper. It worked great I did learn to presoak the carpet o make them wick better. My nozzels I used were just some tiny holes I drilled.

My part of the country doesn't have an abundance of farm supply stores. Tried Tractor Supply they thought I was crazy. Will have to call some of the co-ops in another county.

Thanks for the link. Gives me a starting place. Like the mount for the front of an ATV. Time to start building.

You don't want to put it on the front of the ATV, the tires will knock the weeds that just got Roundup applied to tehm into teh stufff below and you can get dead grass in place of your tire tracks.

Should explain, I plan on using this over planted pines. The tracks wouldn't really be an issue. However, where would you suggest mounting. Looks like if you mounted it on the rear the tires would mash the weeds down, and they wouldn't make contact with the bar?

If there are ffarm auctions in your neck of the woods, a few auctions should net you one for a couple bucks. I got a very fancy, 20', pressurized, folding, hight adjustable with a hyd cyl unit, for $25.

At another auction I got the simpler kit like you are looking for, 6 row (~14 ft) for $1.
