I purchase a Framtrac 665 that the front wiring harness had burnt up on it. I bought a new front harness but did not realize that the harness I bought did not have the wiring going to the fuel pump included. I got everything working and the engine to turn over but no fuel to the engine. Is there a way to hook up wiring to the fuel pump without it being in the harness?

I'm sure there is.
First, is the tractor gas or diesel? This will help someone familiar with your tractor.

It's diesel. There should be a shut off solenoid that needs to be wired to key on power.

I have also have a 665. I just installed a new alternator, but it still doesn't charge until I jump the "AC" terminal to the battery terminal on the regulator. Once it see 12 volts coming from the battery it charges. Where does that terminal actually connect to? I doubt it should be wired to the battery terminal permanently. I don't want to ruin the alternator. It cost a $160 bucks.

Thanks

You would benefit greatly from documentation. Even an operator's manual should have a wiring diagram.

There should be a fusible link (a wire that melts when over current) or a replaceable fuse between the alternator and battery. That's my first guess as there isn't typically much else in between.

Thanks I will rig up a wire with a fuse and see how that works. I am pretty sure it has to be the exciter wire. It will charge if I jump across to hot wire for a brief second and keep charging until I shut the tractor off. When I restart I have to do it all over again. I am uncertain if it is necessary to put a diode in the wire.

The exciter wire for alternator may be through a ALT lamp on dash... Does it have a ALT lamp to show its charging...

Sure use what ever wire that is necessary between pump and "switch" and just use zip ties to secure it to the "new" harness.... It is something mechanics and home repair guru's do all the time ....Factory formed harness is only keep all wires together to keep control of the wires in a bundle and to make sure they break out at proper locations..... Just add what necessary wire and secure it so it does not get damaged or caught on something and enjoy life....

thanks for verify that for me. I thought it might wire that way. The dash is so hard to take apart and get to the lights, that I wasn't going to take on the task on a whim. Now I will get in there and look around.
