I need you help… I am trying to connect two work lights (55W) to my BX 2200. I have run a 16 gauge red wire with a 20 amp fuse from under the seat and along with a 16 gauge black wire, to the top of the ROPS. Now my question…

I have two switches, one for each light, how do I wire them? Do I connect all the black wires ( the black wire from under the seat and the two black wires from the lights) together and then put the red wire from the power under the seat split it and run it to one side of the switch and the red wire from the light to the other side of the switch? OR do I tie the red wires together and run the black wire to the switch?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You always want to switch the pos. wire (red). You don't really need to run the black wires back to the battery unless you want to. You can just ground each of them right at the lights by screwing the black wire right to the rops or bolting the wire between the light fixture and the rops (assuming they are both clean metal). Don't forget to fuse the red wire as close to the battery (before the switch)as possible or you could end up causing lots of problems.
Good luck,

Yes. The 20A fuse is kinda manly for the 16GA wire. It's not like you can burn the tractor down though. In your application, the load will be a tad over 9.1A with both lights on. The fuse should respond to a short quickly enough to avoid problems. Given a choice, I'd run 14 or 12GA. This is not so much due to the load, but more for the physical strength. There's a lot of vibration on these little tractors at certain RPM's....................chim

If he's fusing it for 20a he should run 12ga. wire else, run the 16ga and fuse for 10a.

Don't want to overdo it about recommending relays , but they really do make it a safer and more efficient installation.
