Wish List: Chipper/shredder

I've never had 70 HP available to run a chipper, but there are several manufacturers like Salsco, Bearcat, Wallenstein and others that I'm sure will work. You have more than enough HP to chip up 6" dia stuff, and I would assume anything larger is more profitable to sell as firewood.

I've owned a MTD 5HP chipper/shredder with metal drop down pan. Seems like the next year they went to a plastic feed chute for leaves etc. That was the better of the two and would eat 2" limbs with sharp blades. Then I thought I could do better and bought my neighbor lady's Troy Bilt 8HP chipper/yard vac, self propelled. This was right before Gardenway went bankrupt. It only had one chipper blade and was more prone to limbs getting hung in the feed chute like others have mentioned.
It dulled pretty easy and was a poor design. The vac section would make about one pass through the leaves across the yard and then you would have to dump the bag.
The first one (MTD) would about pull the limb from your hands with sharp blades and almost chock the motor if you let it take control.

Got an Earthquake at Tractor Supply yesterday after reading great reviews. It's a 100% better than I'd ever expected, except TSC assembly, a few bolts rattled loose. In not time I had three bags of tiny woodchips for my girls playset (I need many more), but it was fast as I could feed and only fouled when I feed it something of an odd size or turn.
Price wise, a lot cheaper than the Troy Builts.

Chipped lots of sticks, limbs etc with the Earthquake and no problems except lost a couple nuts that rattled loose (TSC handy work I'm guessing). This evening tried the shredding leaves... It says 20:1 and I believe it!

When chipping wood you get little bity looks to be 1/4" or so chunks, and GREAT for my girls playset! Well I had a few heaping piles of leaves, mostly oak. Loaded as much as I could on an 8X10 tarp and got a 1/2 to 2/3 bag full of shreadded leaves.... Then toted the Earthquake to the piles and filled 4 bags in short order. 2 bags and change fill the 4' bucket on my 1006 Woods FEL. I'd get 2 bags in the bucket and dump in the new compost bin (a work in progress but pics a coming for sure). Now, I have about 1 acre more of leaves that needs grinding. Anyone have a blower I can borrow?

Piles of leaves have now been chopped, diced, sliced etc... I am so impressed with the Earthquake! By golly it's not hard work but loading the hopper has my 48 year old, out of shape hamstrings aching! I tried using the rake as a shovel but you drop as many as you put in the hopper, so I toss them in by hand, all I can grab and drop in. It will clog the hopper from time to time when you pile too many at once, but poking with a stick and away she blows.
