Don , as far as the diet goes. my most troublesome part is breakfast. Sometimes it confounds me so much I skip it entirely. Oatmeal makes me starving after an hour and this is of the steel cut variety. I grew up on toast and butter so now I have grain toast and apple butter (which does not satisfy in the least) with coffee. It seems no matter what i eat, its like always coming from a chinese restaurant...starving after an hour. We have ducks and I can eat an omelet a day but the egg, feta and spinach combo every day can't be healthy after awhile. I get less hungry if I don't eat go figure.

Arrow,
I now get hungry but not an hour after, it takes about three and then I usually have an early lunch or a pre lunch veggie snack. Oatmeal is only 6% fat so I would suspect that your body has not been weaned of fat and craves it. When you get hungry eat some veggie snacks.

I found out it was hard to eat "Healthy" or "In Moderation" and loose weight because your body will crave (in the form of feeling hungry) the fat in cheese, animal products, and refined oils. It takes about 60 day to go through the fat withdrawal process when you go on the no added fat/plant-based only diet. If you go on the diet with the intent of it never ending and you can truly not enjoy eating meat, cheese, dairy, or oiled food and not feel deprived let me know. You will be one of the very few.

I'm on the diet because (with heart disease) it is a quality of life decission. The weight loss is incidental, plus it has other benefits.

This is a 18 month follow up post, after my heart attack, for this thread.

I went to my cardiologist yesterday with the two blood test from the last 3 months. The results as he stated were "perfect".
I also took him a printout of my Garmin Watch (satellite GPS/ heart monitor) which showed my heart rate while I ran 95 miles the last 30 days.
He took my bp and pulse both perfect, and he did a 12 lead EKG. On the 12 lead EKG I previously had a inverted wave due to the heart damage - it does not show up any more.
After my heart attack the proficiency of my heart (Ejection Fraction) was cut in half is now restored to 100%. (EF=60)
BMI is correct for my height.

He had previously discontinued the ace inhibitors and yesterday discontinued my beta blockers and Plavix. Now I just take a statin and aspirin.

He really wanted to do something so he scheduled a stress test but his Nurse Practitioner questioned him and asked: "Why, he runs a hundred miles a month?". He agreed and just said see you in 6 months.

The "Good Morning" thread here on TBN keeps me motivated to run every day.

I know I found the winning diet/lifestyle for my heart disease.
Thank you all for the support,
All is good.
