Don --- Just a thought, I wonder if your thread would not get a lot more attention and help a lot more TBN members if the Thread Title was changed to Heart healthy eating..or something like that...otherwise it seems many who would really enjoy the thread and possibly benefit from all the great recipes and discussion are not aware...Just a thought...

Don, I did not realize they make baking raisins. I was soaking mine in water and microwaving them to make them plump. I also like your idea of making the applesauce chunky to add moister. Your picture really looks good!

Brin, I agree, this thread, like the learning part in cardiac rehab, ends with food to control your disease and then transforms into a cooking class.:licking:

I don't think you can rename a thread. What do ya'll think of abandoning this thread and starting a new Heart Healthy Eating (to prevent or reverse heart disease) thread here in Related Topics which focuses on recipes and pictures. Of course we can comment on weight loss, exercise and med reductions along the way. We may need to copy the successful recipes over to the new thread so they are all together in one place.

Sounds good

A new post is probably a good idea - just let us know when started.

Thanks for the mods to the cinnamon roll recipe. We looked for whole wheat pastry flour and never found it. We've done two batches with reg whole wheat flour and still impressed. Will have to check out the whole foods in Dayton again. Even at the health food stores I only last so long shopping for no oil, etc - I get tired of looking at all the labels. And for the cinnamon recipe - we double both the filling same as Don, and change from 1t to 1T on the glaze.

Have been no oil, dairy, meat etc for about a month now and feel better than I have in a long time. Looking forward to Dr visit in Jan and hope to start the process of reducing the meds. One day at a time.

Greg

On a second pass-thru of our local meijer stores I found whole wheat pastry flour in the 'Bob's Red Mill' section in 5 pounds bags on the bottom shelf. Whole Foods had the 'Bob's Red Mill' in 5 pound bags and also the WW pastry flour in the bulk food bins.

Last Night, I baked low cal., low fat chocolate chip cup cakes.

What peaked my interest was a primary ingredient in the cup cakes was one of the ingredients in txdon's burgers!?! Early returns from my panel of tasters gave the cup cakes a . My batch had the texture of a rich chocolate brownie. No sugar, no oil, some egg product. A mini cup cake comes in at 55 calories and 1.2 grams of fat.

Ok the thread "Heart Healthy Eating" is up and running. Let's share some of those good recipes and heart healthy products.

TB Donnelly your new modified Cinnamon rolls recipe and picture would look good there. Is the ingredient in the cup cakes oatmeal or black beans?

Remember it's hard to enjoy your tractor from a hospital bed and cardiac rehab severely cuts into seat time.

These cupcakes aren't postable on the new thread because of the the egg product (egg beaters and egg whites) & 1 tablespoon of butter. Perhaps someone could make a recommendation for a plant based substitute for the egg product? The icing uses cream cheese, a plant based substitute for the icing should be easy enough.

The interesting ingredient in these chocolate cupcakes is...........'black beans'! The same black beans txdon used in his bean burger.

The cupcake recipe can be found here:

I'll make a post about the cinnamon rolls in the new thread....

This is a 18 month follow up post, after my heart attack, for this thread.

I went to my cardiologist yesterday with the two blood test from the last 3 months. The results as he stated were "perfect".
I also took him a printout of my Garmin Watch (satellite GPS/ heart monitor) which showed my heart rate while I ran 95 miles the last 30 days.
He took my bp and pulse both perfect, and he did a 12 lead EKG. On the 12 lead EKG I previously had a inverted wave due to the heart damage - it does not show up any more.
After my heart attack the proficiency of my heart (Ejection Fraction) was cut in half is now restored to 100%. (EF=60)
BMI is correct for my height.

He had previously discontinued the ace inhibitors and yesterday discontinued my beta blockers and Plavix. Now I just take a statin and aspirin.

He really wanted to do something so he scheduled a stress test but his Nurse Practitioner questioned him and asked: "Why, he runs a hundred miles a month?". He agreed and just said see you in 6 months.

The "Good Morning" thread here on TBN keeps me motivated to run every day.

I know I found the winning diet/lifestyle for my heart disease.
Thank you all for the support,
All is good.
