Took time off from deer hunting this weekend to work on the utilities to the new barn - water, power & phone. Water & power are direct burial & I used some left over Cat5 in conduit for the phone. Rented a mini excavator to dig with. Great machine. Our place is all clay w/no rocks @ all so the digging went pretty quick once I got into rhythm working the controls. Thanks to EddieWalker on the idea to use a 5gal bucket to mark the end of conduits for later digging up (the red remains in the photos). That kept me from ripping up my conduit sleeves I had to burry when I repositioned the digger.

I'm glad the bucket idea worked for you. I have them buried along my roads to mark the ends of empty conduit that I put in before I put gravel down.

Had a great weekend on the 19th. A bunch came over from work to help me get the trusses set on our barn. We finished setting the 2 end beams along with setting 13 trusses and all the lath and fascia. Here are some pictures from the day: First beam:
