Wolf-like creature shot in Montana

99% of ranchers know what their neighbors dogs looks like. In many states you can also shoot them if they'll in your pasture, chasing your livestock. Nonetheless, the people who raise livestock can see when an animal is stalking there cattle. They thought it was a wolf and I'd still bet donuts its a high-bred of sorts.
I had to put down the neighbors dog. It had killed multiple chickens and was chasing and already caused damage to a calf. Neighbor heard the shot and came down, he was pzzzzzed . I had econ on the phone before he got there. He gave the econ officer such a hard time he got a ticket and had to pay vet bills. I had called eon several times on this dog and they were warned If the dog was in the fenced pasture terrorizing animals it was fair game.

That sucks for both parties. As often as I read about it, it never ceases to amaze me how many people will raise a stink because their dog or cat was in the wrong place, one time too many.

More information will come. If they cannot identify the animal when they possess its corpse I wonder how a cattleman determined it was a predator while hundreds of yards away.

I’m going to guess that the farmer knew it was a predator by the way it was stalking his livestock. I’m sure it was a way more humane kill for the creature than what it was going to inflict on the cattle.

Yep. I was county dispatch for 15 years. Several times people calle in to report dogs harrassing their animals. They were always surprised when I told them they can shoot them. One rather satisfying call:

A deputy reported that a couple dogs had killed one of his mature llamas and it's Kria. She shot both of the dogs. Dog owner called asking if she could talk to the animals owner. "Ma'am you already did. That deputy owned them". I also explained the rights of property owners and that dog owners are responsible tokeeping them in their control.

No doubt this is a chupracabra.
Werewolf or chupracabra?
If it's a werewolf, it must have been killed with a silver bullet and that wasn't mentioned. That's assuming it's really dead. The chupracabras that I've heard about seem to prefer warmer climates than Montana's. I'm going with neighbor's dog until convinced otherwise.

Gee whiz, everyone knows if you shoot a werewolf with a silver bullet he turns back into a man!
Try explaining to the cops that the dead guy was a wolf when you shot him. I'm going with weird dog.

Irish Wolfhounds and Scottish Deerhounds both have that rough, scruffy coat. And they stand about three foot tall at the head. If not a purebred, it could easily be a cross with another dog, a wolf, or a coyote -- it happens.

In South Texas chupracabras catch silver bullets in their teeth.

Darn! I completely forgot about the reverse metamorphosis of a dead werewolf. I feel so stupid.

My cousin had a large dog, I think it was a St. Bernard, that got into another cousin's sheep pasture. The story I heard, was that it killed the ewe and ate the lamb.
