GM recalling 3.4 million trucks to fix brake issue | Fox News

Under pressure from the federal government, General Motors is recalling more than 3.4 million big pickup trucks and SUVs in the U.S to fix a brake problem.

The recall covers the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups from the 2014 through 2018 model years. Also included are the Cadillac Escalade from 2015 to 2017, and the GMC Yukon and Chevy Suburban and Tahoe from 2015 through 2018.

Another issue with a vacuum pump. More and more vehicles need these VPs and I understand the turbo's needing them, but why NA engines? Low RPM/large throttle openings with higher gearing? Neighbor was having problem with his VP on his turbo 3.5 Ford F150. The pumps corrode from the road salt as they are mounted low and behind the front bumper. Some people were actually changing to a GM part because it was better and cheaper.

Also: " In some of the trucks, oil sludge or other debris can clog the screen, reducing oil flow and causing the pump’s vacuum output to drop,"
Some people may not be using DEXOS oil or not changing their oil very often. Is that creating the problem?

Yeah, look at history and read the papers. Humans are just such a valuable species on the earth! Kills me that anyone could convince themselves of that.

I do understand the point you are trying to make. Through history there have been too few times that humans made an attempt to coexist with nature instead of conquering it. I have noticed several animal crossing bridges and tunnels constructed so critters can migrate safely past large highways. I have also noticed how quickly nature takes over a abandoned building and parking lot. It kinda makes me wonder who is the intruder.

Too many times around here we see people getting killed in accidents when people stop to help critters.

My question is how often do you tow and does your trailer have brakes? If you tow a lot and no trailer brakes, I don't think its Chevy's fault. If you don't tow often and don't drive the truck hard, that's pretty early for needing brakes. The back ones are really surprising they usually last much longer .

Should not invalidate the warranty issue. Is Chevy implying that their 努ork trucks shouldn稚 be used for work?

I have a 2011 GMC 2500HD, I tow with it and don't wash it very often, never have washed the bottom (I know I should, but havent). We get winter here and they certainly put corrosive crap on the roads. I have some surface rust here and there (that wouldn't be there if I had taken better care). My brakes are like new, no issues, plenty of pad left, calipers are fine. It is parked outside, not in the garage.

Hawkeye - the current issues doesn't affect your model year it is 2014-2018 I think. I had an 08 2500, it went through 1 set before I got rid of it.
