wont start back

i have a international 500 e dozer it was running fine today then i went up hill with it and it bogged down then i could not get it started back it tried to start but it would not i checked the relief valves the fuel filters the water catchers and the fuel pump it is a diesle but it acts like a vehicle when flooded out does any one know what could be wrong

JCB 214, Perkins 4 cyl. stalled in remote area of farm.
Have check pump and have diesel at each cyl. Getting white puffs of smoke while cranking. I think this is water in fuel. plan to use a drying agent in fuel. Possible small amount of ether starting agent in air intake. Any comments.

Sounds like water in the fuel tank. How steep was the hill and had you been up the hill previously. Possibly may be starved because of blockage in the intake tube. Rust, leaves, fungus etc....

It could be as simple as if you were low on fuel and went up the hill the fuel in the tank flowed away from the intake ...so it stopped...try adding fuel first.
