Don't know about this model tractor but on some of our old JDs there is an electric solenoid on the pump that has to energize to "turn on" the pump. This is just what happened to me a year or so ago on a 4320 John Deere. I ran a wire from the battery to the connector on the top of the pump. Tractor ran fine after that until I could hunt down the broken wire/bd switch/etc. Usually it is a not the solenoid on the pump but a wire that has worked in two or something like that.
