The other day I was clearing snow at home when all of a sudden my machine shuts off out of nowhere. I was running it pretty close to empty on diesel, so I filled gas tank back up but it will NOT start. In the process of trying to crank it over multiple times, I killed the battery (went from engine cranking to just clicking). Last night I was out there trying to jump it, thinking that now the battery is dead, for sure it wont start. Hooked cables up, got it cranking strong again but STILL WONT START! Any possible diagnosis/ tips/ have had the same problems??? I am new to owning a machine like this and don't know the in's and outs and tricks yet. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

Debris, water, and/or gelled fuel.

If fuel was compromised in any way, what would be the best method for addressing this? I assume take the entire fuel system out, drain, clean it?

What were the temps when it quit??? No matter how you slice it, you probably have a fuel issue. We're you using any fuel supplement and/ or winter blend fuel???
Let's start. With scenario #1: let's say you ran it out of fuel. Diesel engine are not like gas engines. Your probably going to have to bleed the system to get it running again. If you have a manual to it, it should have instructions on how to bleed the system.
Scenario #2: let's say you gelled up. Diesel fuel contains a waxy type substance. This is fine when it is 70 degrees out. However, say it is 10 degrees out, the waxy substance starts to bond to itself, plug up the fuel filter and the engine quits cause you are not getting any fuel. Into it were me, I'd go get some winter blend fuel, a fuel supplement like say howes or power service and put that in the fuel tank. I get a new fuel filter, fill the filter with fresh fuel and install the fuel filter. Than I'd bleed the fuel system. I'd try to get some heat around the fuel lines, fuel filter and injector pump. A heat lamp and a tarp work petty good to get heat to the fuel system.
Senario #3: someeting is broke/failed. It is possible but all probability would suggest it is one of the first two issues. However a component fail is going to be over my head on that particular machine. Hope this helps.

Change your fuel filter(s), top it off with fuel, and the fuel system more than likely needs to be bled. If you have an operator manual it will tell you how to bleed the fuel system, if you don't have an operator manual, get one, you need it to properly care for that machine. I'm not sure what engine that machine has so it's hard to walk you through how to bleed it, but I'll give you a general idea....Some machines have a hand pump attached to the injection pump that you use for bleeding. There will be a bleeder screw on top of the fuel filter assembly that needs to be loosened as well, start pumping, once you get fuel with no air bubbles to the bleeder screw, tighten it. Now follow the fuel lines from the injector pump up to the injectors, crack the line loose that attaches to the one of the injectors (start at the end or the easiest one to get to) and pump until you get fuel with no air out of it, repeat on the other injectors. Hope this helps, come back with any questions or some pics of the motor and injection pump and we could probably help get you going.....but most of all, don't run the machine that low on fuel again, but you probably already know that ;)

Either.

I hear your machine is outstanding in it's field.

Best of luck, Fred
