Wood chips on sloppy dirt road?

Another inexpensive alternative, if anyone is screening loam in your area, the tailings off the screener are usually inexpensive-yeah you get some twigs along with the stone but the stuff works well for the kind of roadway you are dealing with. Operation where I get mine has a primary screen that gets the big stuff out and then a second screen that is basically 2" minus. Works great.

Oh big 10-4 on someones comment on a manure spreader for chips. we have an old one at our fairgrounds-how old?-says "McCormick" in faded letters and the bed is wood!- but its the only way to spread volumes of chips EVENLY IMO

Wood chips works great for my trail for my tractor to stay out of the mud, but for daily traffic? I dont think so. I have to replenish my wood chip trail every 2 years to have a solid base all the time.

I've used chips from my chipper along various spots on my driveway. They aren't as good as crushed rock but sure a lot cheaper. The only problem - they grade off in the winter with the snow as I clear the driveway.
