crusher run, chips and fines, aka modified here, lots of names were listed in another forum.
I used the Modified under all of my paverstone patios and walkways, it packs so nice. Our driveway alone has 60 ton on it. If you can get it i would use it.

I use slag.A ton of slag will cover more Sq' than gravel .
Cost less per ton and works better too.

I have tried slag. It is cheaper. It doesn't pack like 'chips and dust". Chips and Dust are the best thing I have found to run a snow blade on.
