I talked with a guy at one of the local paint stores yesterday. I think I will go the stain route. He has Cabot and Benjamin Moore. He said Cabot used to be the best but now he recommends the BM. I will have to wait and see what the weather is like in Nov and Dec for staining or wait for spring.

Of course, it depends on the look you want... a couple of years ago while cleaning weeds/trash along a fence line, I decided it would look good if it were painted.... The pressure treated posts had been there a long time and were certainly dry... I used a good latex paint, white, and I have a wonderful looking fence. If you go with paint, use a good latex.

The thing that has really pushed me over the edge to stain is he said it aould be a one step process, no priming needed. With paint he said I need to prime first. I figure if the staining isn't what I like I could change over to paint in the future. It would be harder to go the other way.
