Very nice, the block is the way to go
Now, get some french drain material and put it back in behind teh wall and give it somewhere to drain to. (the plastic covered drain pipe), the backfill right behind the wall with rock (anything, whatever is cheap, you'll never see it again). Keeps all the water pressure off the wall which is what you want.
Shouldn't cost you very much, and obviously you have a tract to move the rock with.

wow! that block is very nice. i've got a bunch of projects around here that they would be well suited for. so whats the cost? and how does one find the time to install them? (the last sentence is just childish whining)

This is as far as I got today. OH brother am I beat. The blocks weigh 65lbs each so lift them gets to my skinny bu*t real fast. I only weigh 138lbs

They said I didn't need to because the wall is only 28 inches tall. I do have to use aggregate back fill 4 to 6 inches out from the wall and a foot from to surface. They also gave me a filter fabric to lay under, over and around the aggregate then just back fill with dirt.

The wall finished will be 25 foot long and stair step down the last 10 feet to ground level. List included 80 block, 27 cap blocks, 170 pins, cap concrete glue (3 tubs) and $36 for pallet deposit. LOL That's 3 pallet at $12 each With tax total was $565.97

The wall looks great Randy. Your supplier is right proud of those pallets. Wonder if they would give me $12 each for the mountains of them I see in this area.

The wall is finished. Lifting those blocks about whipped my skinny bu*t. Lets see, 80 blocks at 65lbs each, that's a total of 5200lbs. No wonder why I'm so sore. LOL Next to complete the project is to bury 2 4" PVC pipe to catch the water coming from the gutter drain pipes on that side of the home.

Think about what will happen when it does eventually rot and you have to replace it. If that cost and hassle is too much, you might consider a more permanent (masonry) approach to the wall. There are many options that will last a century.
