Wood splitter auto cycle

I happened to be on Surplus Center's site today and noticed that they had a listing for a Prince Auto Cycle valve in the valve section:

Auto Cycle Valve

When I was originally looking for these I called Surplus Center but was told that they didn't carry them - apparently they have added them since then.

The item is currently out of stock but supposedly if you order one they will ship it when they get inventory in.

Anybody have a source for the Prince Autocycle valve? Surplus center is no longer carrying it.

Guess I missed this thread last year and am getting to it really late.

My "auto-return" detent is worn on the used splitter I got two years ago. I am running a big splitter off a low flow powerbeyond. So, it's pretty slow and, even slower holding the lever waiting for the cylinder to retract. My older brother is not an "engineer" like me, just more common sense than most engineers I've met. When he saw how slow things were going, rather than discuss the pros and cons of rebuilding the valve parts, mechanics of detents, and really cool stuff, he walked over to my shed, rummaged around, found a semi warn out bungie, hooked one end to the lever and the other to the TPH top-pin, looked at me like I was stupid (I've gotten used to the look over many years), and "fixed" the auto-return in 2 min.'s for $0's. He believes in KISS. Solution still works fine.

IMHO, unless in a commercial operation with lots of insurance, I'd never have a forward detent.

Cheers

Their website shows they have 8 of them in stock ..... ?

That's interesting. I followed your link above and it's a dead end..."sorry that item is discontinued". Can you post a link to the eight you found? Do you know what the correct model number is? I was digging around on Prince's site and I came up with three different numbers!

trlong-thanks for the advice, but I really didn't want to reopen the debate as to the safety of this valve.

Their on-line site does not seem complete.
