Finished at last - Well almost. Want to put an isinglass window in the door. For 1 thing it is fun to see the fire and more important it lets you fine tun the burn.
Got a couple of new toys to try out and use. First was a needle scale'r fun to use sure beats a chipping hammer most of the time. It also found me a couple small leaks in the stove.
Picked up a propane tip for my cutting torch. First try on a piece of scrap metal came out near perfect. Straight and slag free.
Had some metal to remove inside the stove. Open up the heat channels on each side of fire box. Well working inside the stove through the door left a little to be desired. Hard to maintain correct angle & distance. But got it done, just not real neat looking.
Got some 1/8" E-6011 rod ( Well Coat ) and it runs real nice. After a couple of tests, jump on the stove and seal the little leaks. Should have played a little more, burned a couple of holes. By the end welds had gotten pretty good. One was a sideways weld and 1 vertical and those were actually "pretty".
Stove is too large for my house as I only heat about 900 SQ Ft. It would be fine for 1,500 on up to around 2,200 SQ FT.
Not real soon I will build myself 1 very similar just smaller and simpler. My 3 year old stove is still working fine.
