Change it out soon,

The bronze bushings are gone and the worm gear is eating into the spur gear.
After you get it out I would check with a Boston Gear sales office to see what they can
do for you as they are obviously using a very poorly made worm drive to spur gearbox.

If you have it opened up that much replacing the cross auger housing bearings and the support bearing for the driven shaft.

I agree with changing them out soon, but this gearbox has 2 bevel gears. No worm. No bronze bushings. Only ball bearings.

Does it have a chain driving the auger? If so remove it to isolate the noise. Could be a noisy chain or bearing on that shaft.

I looked up your blower.
The gearbox uses bearings so I'd doubt the problem is there (unless it's dry)'
Keep diagnosing, perhaps the chain is badly worn? or one possibility is the bearing in the tensioner device as that is very exposed to the elements.
Pull the chain and spin the tensioner manually.
Bet that's the culprit!
