I'm thinking of adding a chipper to the arsenal. Hydraulic feed would be nice. Has anyone had any experience with WoodMaxx chippers? Any others I should look at?

Thanks, Chris

I use the 8" WoodMaxx without the hydraulic feed. It works great but I wish I had the hydraulic feed. I"m in the process of clearing 38 acres of scrub cedars. The only problem I've had is where I ended up feeding to much fines i.e. the small leaves of the trees and it clogged the output. Easy to clean.

Thanks for the reply. Would you buy another one? I do plan on the hydraulic feed model. What size stuff have you put through it and did it handle it well?

I purchased a WoodMaxx hydraulic feed chipper a few weeks ago. My neighbor has one and really likes it ,so I thought Id go for it. It showed up in a steel crate, everything was packaged up very neatly. I was impressed. It took me only an hour to assemble and attach the machine to my tractor ( I have a woods quick hitch) I did notice a scuff in one of the hydraulic hoses. It looked like it was hit by one of the forks from a fork truck. It probably wasn't bad enough to require replacement, but I called the people at WoodMaxx. They were very responsive and sent me a new hose, which I received the next morning. I fired the chipper up that same day and it worked perfectly. I am cleaning up some old fence lines-small leafy stuff no bigger than 3"-4", and did not clog the chute once. I like the hydraulic feed and the hopper is table height so feeding the limbs in is easy and doesn't strain your back. Its a good value for the money.

Will this do brush? I need a chipper shredder.

I'm glad you think it's a good machine because I ordered one yesterday before I read your post. It gives me added piece of mind. Got the hydraulic feed in orange to match my Kubota. I should receive it around Labor day. I'll post back once I use it. Kurt answered all my questions and gave me an overall good feeling about ordering from him.

Sorry for the delay on getting back to this thread. Yes I would buy another one in an instant. The only change would be the hydraulic feed. Mine will also do brush but...... if feed to fast will chip to a very fine material and will clog the output. Not a big deal as after it happens the first time you learn not to feed to much at a time. But I do need to say that it took A LOT of fast feeding to get it to clog. I'm running mine on a 50HP tractor and even with the stoutest logs it didn't even slow down a bit. Blades are easy to change/sharpen but unless you feed it something that you're not suppose to feed a chipper (nails, wire etc) they last forever (seems that way). There is a clean out door that is easy to get to and the discharge chute is easily removed if necesary. All bolts that are used to remove covers etc are the same size so you only need one wrench. I did make one modification and am looking at making another simple one. I created a wider 3pt mount to fit my QH and the only other thing is because the bolts face inward there is a tendancy for branches to get hung up on the bolt ends within the feeder system. What I'm going to do is get carriage bolts and put the head inside the feeder area.

I'm getting one in next month (WM8-H). What hydraulic oil are you all using in this chipper? I wanted to get the oil bought before the chipper came in.

I've had my WM8H for about a month now and I'm still very happy with it. Much easier than dragging to the burn pile with the benefit of a pile of chips to amend my crappy dirt.
I'm glad I went with the hydro feed due my tractor only having 25 horses at the PTO, for the most part my tractor has no problem but when I tested it with a 6in pine branch I had to slow down the feed a bit for my tractor, the other benefit to the hydro is you can backout a branch that get bound.

I bought a used Jinma 8" but I buy my consumables from Woodmax. Nice folks. The Jinma and their WC8 (I think) economy chipper are one in the same.

Of course I'm inputting 90 pto ponies so it eats everything, like right now.

Good investment. I got in at half what a new one cost and I can likely sell this one for what I paid for it, not that I want to.
