Snowblower Woodmaxx SB48 3 point hitch snow blower?

Hello

Wondering your opinion on your snow blower setup? Is it difficult to plow backwards? Do you have an HST on your tractor? I'm looking to change my set up for next year with a higher HP tractor. I have a small JDeere with a front mounted mid PTO snow blower and HST. Front mount blowers are so costly I'm considering a 3 point mount for my new tractor. Plowing backward appears to be difficult to begin with and with an HST you have to hold one pedal down plus turning around to see where you are going. That's why I'm also considering a hydraulic shuttle shift manual transmission. I'm also in the Peoples Democratic Republic of Minnesota.

I have a 1000 ft curvy and hilly private road that becomes an odd shaped 30x50 driveway. I have rear mounted 68" blower on my 30HP clutch operated tractor. Although I'm quite new to this, I have zero problem driving the tractor backward. I swivel on my seat and look at shoulder angle, so not really twisting my neck or back. Blower is done at a speed slow enough that I don't find it difficult to follow curves.

Being clutch operated (shuttle shift), it's true that setting the speed using a handle is practical but doesn't your HST tractor have a 'cruise control'? My small HST D125 John Deere lawn tractor has one so I would expect bigger one to have one too. The only thing about having rear mounted blower on a tractor with a loader that bothers me some is the shear size of the beast. Unless you apply the brake to one wheel only, It takes lots of room to turn.

We have a gently used 50" Buhler, Allied blower on 25 pto hp... With the snow we get, the tractor will start to bog if you go too fast..

Yes at times it is hard to look over your shoulder and keep track where you are going...Besides the occasional face full of snow, just depending.. But like said, the incredible price of dedicated brand front blowers it is easy enough to live with..

I had a front blower on an older tractor with the same pto hp as this tractor.. The old tractor was hydro, but the blower was very much less capable than the like size 3pt blower we have now..

Yes... As much a pain as a 3pt blower can be, I can only imagine it would be worse on a gear tractor.. Like said when the snow slows the tractor, you can move slower, or take a partial cut to make things go better, easier..

No one says it has to be a perfect job, on the first pass...

I would buy used, 3pt again, if or when the need arises..
