I’m happy (and embarrassed ) to say I had the gland ring in backwards. It sure made sense to me the way I installed it but not to the Woods engineers! Once I flipped it, it fit very nicely.
I noticed some scoring on the piston. Hopefully it’s not a big deal.
Anyway, for now, it’s working!!
