Woods 60\" Tiller

I love my new tiller although the manual is not very specific. The picture shows a dipstick to check the gearbox fluid and I can't find it. I only see two places it could be on top of the gearbox and on top of the chain cover. Any ideas?

Also wanted to take a minute and recommend anyone in the North Texas/S. Okla area of something a man from Atoka Tractor & Supply did for me. After bringing my new tiller home I realized that the brackets for the 3pt lift were not there. Larry Hardin took the bracket off his personal tiller and took it to a welding shop and had me 2 brackets made for a temp. fix until he recvd my new ones from woods. He took the time to do this, and delivered them to me (1 1/2hrs away) Actually the temps are more heavy duty then the factory ones. Anyway I knew that this is something that people did 25 yrs ago and is very rare today. My tiller was also $800 cheaper than area reps. Thanks for your responses to my dipstick problem.

The one on top of the gearbox should be the one with a dipstick for checking oil in the gearbox (and filling it). The one you found on the bottom of the chain guard is a drain for the chain housing. There should be a second one on the chain housing, somewhere above the midline. You basically fill it through this hole until it comes back out at you (the position on the chain housing sets the level). You might want to check your manual, or get one if you don't have one (try www.woodsonline.com). I didn't receive a manual with my Caroni (they were out of stock), and ended up doing it wrong. Luckily, I didn't use it much before the manual finally showed up, and it appears that I got lucky.
