I've been looking for a used 7 foot wide landscape rake for my 35hp, Kubota L35. The Kubota has 4 wheel drive and the tires are foamed. I'm going to be using the rake to maintain crushed stone drives and parking areas.

I've found a used Woods LR800 that's 8 feet wide and weighs in at around 400lbs. Will that be too much rake for my 35hp tractor? I see alot of rakes with exta weight piled on and that makes me think the extra weight may be a plus.

My tractor has a catagory one, three point hitch. The guy selling the rake isn't sure if it's cat one or two and he lives 110 miles away. He said he doesn't know much about york rakes. Does anyone happen to know if it's a big pain to switch a Woods rake from cat 2 to cat one?

It is easy to change cat 2 to cat 1 or vice versa; just replace the pins.

I have a Woods 7' rake (rebadged Frontier) with my 30 HP tractor. It works fine for me but I think mine is considered a medium duty unit. It is a lot beefier than the lower priced units that I looked at but doubt that it is in the 400 lb. range.

The one annoyance with the longer blade is that I cannot reverse it on the tractor like I can with my 6' backblade, so I can't push. The landscape rake doesn't clear the rear of the tractor in the swing.

If it is a true Cat II rake, the lower pins are mounted on a wider A-frame than if it were a Cat I. That can be measured if you trust the guy that is selling it to use a tape measure. An L35 may not have the rear tread width or lift arm stabilizer adjustment to accomodate Cat I lift pins at Cat II width. An 8' rake should be no problem. If it turns out to be too wide, a torch can cut it down to size.

I run a Woods 8' rake on my NH TC29DA without problems. Jay

My LR800 has multiple pin attachments for cat II and cat I. I think you'd have no problem on a drive. Brush might be different
