Fisherman....I agree that both units from a specs and quality standpoint are virtually the same and I will be happy with either. Did you go with shear bolt or slip clutch? I have just about decided to go with shear bolt up front to save a few bucks as I just got married and finances are pretty tight but old hog can't go no more. If I find myself breaking shear bolts every 100 feet I will then fork out a little more to go with the slip clutch....any thoughts on that thinking?
Thanks for everyone's responses and help.

It's a good plan. Try the shear bolt and gauge your use. You can easily add a slip clutch later. Start with Grade 2 bolts and then you can always move up if you want to. Many on this site use Grade 5 bolts. I know my Howse 500 Manual specifies a Grade 5 bolt. If you can find them, Grade BB bolts fall between the two Grades.

Just so you all know....I went with the Woods BB60 for the shear convenience of the dealer and the helpfulness of the sales staff. I am going to try out the shear bolt and see how that works. Thanks for all of your advice and experiences. WIll try to post how things are going. I hope that I can advise someone in the future.

Thanks again.
