Thats about the price range I found over the weekend, I even looked at the KK brand at TSC for about $400 but was disappointed in overall apperence,'Rusted up and some even bent some', but could really see the difference in the way they were built I guess you get what you pay for.

Yep, you are paying for the steel (weight) , or so it appears, with box blades. The lighter ones are less expensive, the heavier ones, like Woods, are more expensive.

I don't currently have a box-blade (Blasphemy!) , but all of the reading I have done here at TBN says heavier-is-better. The prices also seem to reflect this.

I have often wondered if simply adding weights to a lighter unit would increase it's performance, or, simply help it destruct a little quicker??

There is an excellent thread about box blades where someone took the time to go around and photograph/document various brands. Try a forum search, it covered quite a few brands.

i paid $770 for a GB65. it weighs 500lbs and works really well, no extra weight needed. i compared this to the KingKutter which was selling for around $550 and weighed considerably less. the thickness of the steel alone told me i'd be passing this fine piece of quipment down to my grandchildren should i ever have any. ;-)

one thing to watch, if you happen to lose a cutting tooth make sure to replace it right away, if the shank starts to wear you'll be replacing the shank AND the tooth.

I got a HD hinged back box scraper from TSC last year and I think it weighs close to 600 pounds. It was a little under 600 dollars if I remember corrrectly. Works well and built quite heavy duty.

Those hinged back box scrapers are a definite upgrade for the TSC/KK/? box scraper line. I would have gone with one of those units, but I was not sure if a hinged back box scraper would best meet my perceived needs at the time. Jay

Last fall I was quoted $940 on the GB-72 from Salem Farm Supply in Salem,Ny. The list is $1175, Im sure that price has increased somewhat. I just didnt have the money at the time. Its a nice looking unit !

I actually strapped on some suitcase weights from my previous tractor and now my hinged back scraper should be about 700#'s. Haven't used it w/ weights on the back yet but it should definitely give it more bite and less bounce.

I just bought mine yesterday for $900 + tax locally there was only one dealer close by. I called around and had found the GB72 as low as 800 but with travel involved I figured to buy locally. I have yet to use it. Thanks to all for all the info, this site is a great source of info and ofcourse a great bunch of tractor owners
