I am purchasing a new Grand L 5240. The dealer has a Land Pride FDR1672 for $1,795. He also has either a Woods PRD7200 or 8400 for $2150 and $2500 respectively (including a scalp wheel). First, are these prices good?
Second, I will be mowing about 4-6 acres per week. It is former pasture so there are a number of ruts and ridges. It is certainly not "pool table" level. I have been mowing it with a 42" John Deere lawn tractor and an offset 44" Swisher pull-behind for the last 2 years. For the extra $350, I am considering the 84" model. However, the dealer is suggesting that I will have a lot more scalping with the 84" vs. the 72". Is this true? Obviously, HP is not an issue.
I have a few trees to contend with, but not too bad and I have the lawn tractor for trimming.
Opinions?
Thanks
