When I had to replace the belt on mine, I wondered how am I ever gonna get this thing back on......but on the back of the shroud, inside to the left of the main pulley is a decal that shows the correct way to install it. It' s got a twist or two, but it's really not that hard to put on. If there's no decal, or if you can't read it, go to www.woodsequipment.com & you can download the manual for your mower. Is it a RM59-1, -2, or -3 ? You can find this on the serial # tag. Just my .02, but, I went ahead and got the kevlar belt, been on for 3 yrs & not a peep of trouble. I know this is an old piece of equipment, but I love mine. Bill
I just bought a RM59 yesterday for $150! Then I came on here searching for info on RM59 and found this thread helpful since there is no decal on mine and I have successfully downloaded an owner manual.
I'll attach it to my tractor in few hours and give it a very short run just to see how it does. I know the blade is dull and I am just wondering if it need more greasing since I don't want to overdo it. Belt appears to be okay but sometime your eyes can fool you.
Anyway, just wanted to give this thread a kudo since the answer is already here without having to post a new thread. Thanks to BHeath!
Oops, forgot. The belts, if visually OK are most likely in good shape. When last replaced, mine looked really ragged but still functioned. For all the abuse they are very sturdy.
Greased my RM59 today and mounted it on back of my MF240 then ran it.. it ran real good and I am happy with my buy!
Got 5' Box Blade for $150, 5' Howe's Bushhog with stump jumer for $150, this RM59 for $150 and now soon boomer sprayer for $75 plus equipments (pump, hoses, etc).
Can anyone confirm or deny that a Woods RM 59 does take a B162 belt. I just brought home a basket case and the belt measures longer than 162". It measures around 180" which is what Agri Supply lists for the belt. B180 BELT - Agri Supply
Mine is a RM 59-1. I know there is a Rm 59 -2 and a -3. Perhaps the different versions of the mower use different lengths of belts?? Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
I have a Woods rm59-3, and am looking for information about the drive belts, and alternative sources. I have been buying them from my local equipment provider for $72 each, and would like to know if there is a less expensive solution to this situation I can rely upon. I see on the internet places offering a belt for 1/2 the cost, and wonder if they are as durable, etc.
Thanks Matt. What is your experience with the less expensive belt. Do they last as long as the Woods belts? Can you give me a URL for the source you mention? Is that a kevlar belt?
