I started to really use the Woods GTO tiller that I got back in the early summer. When the dealer dropped it off, he said it was ready to go. I used it a couple of times when I got it, nothing to heavy. Well, the last time I used it for about 3 hours and I noticed that some of the gear oil from the chain drive is being blown out the vent cap. I assumed that this was ok, I've checked the oil level and it appears that it could be overfilled. I partially removed the oil plug and oil started to come out. The Woods manual isn't very good, especially regarding maintenance points.

Is this really a problem I should be concerned about.

Jim,
I’d drain the oil and fill it with the type and amount of lube specified by Woods. Sounds like it has to much lube in it.

Just drain it down so the level of the oil is at the filler plug, or just let it dribble out the vent. Better than no oil at all.

my new woods mower does the same thing. the dealer has it now because it has the wrong vent. mine kept spitten oil even after i removed the excess oil. i would drain the extra oil and then keep an eye on it.
