I finally had the time to install work lights on my BX22, only to discover that I still can't seem to locate the right #@#$ red wire under the seat. I think I found it...but it's not actually red...it's red with a black stripe? Assuming this is the correct wire, and I hope it is, which end do I pull to find the connector? Do I pull on end-A or end-B (see attached picture). I have spend well over an hour picking away at the electical tape that encases the wire harness, so I hope someone out there can help me. I'm trying to avoid stuffing things up by yanking the wrong wire and causing a short or breaking a connection. Thanks for the help

go for A first and if nothing comes loose, then try B...... you can't short anything out unless you break the wire. You shouldn't have to pull that hard to find the end. You picture is too dark to figure out where in the harness you are pointing to... good luck.... if you have been working on this for a hour, it is possible that there is no wire. It didn't take but 5 minutes to find the one on my tractor and 3 of those minutes were used for looking for the flashlight... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here's a picture that might help. The wires on my BX22 already had connectors on them...I did not have to break a wire to tap in.

5 minutes?!
I must be smoking from the wrong end of my bong pipe.
Plus my wire is red and black striped, not red like it is so clearly pictured in Jim Becker's photo. My guess is that something is up...maybe there is no wire? or maybe the wire is not bundled within the harness? Think I'll have to probe further and see what I can find. Didn't think this project was going to be such an major ordeal. Thanks..any additional advice will be appreciated, as usual.

On my BX1800 it is the Red(or Pink)/Black striped wire like you are showing. From your picture it looks like A is toward the back of the machine and B is closer to the front. If that is truly the case I would say A is the one you want to pull on as the wire comes from the front (at least on mine it does).

Good luck

thanks...it's reassuring to know that your wire also had a black stripe. and yes, A is towards the rear, so I will attempt to pull that end out...slowly.

The wire I used is red with the black stripe. You can just make that out in the photo if you look just below the white line I drew. (I just walked out to check and confirm this, too...)
