Anyone know where to get some universal type lights suitable to mount on the ROPS? I need to get some on before the snow starts flying!

There's a thread in here about some portable lights a lot of us made. We used a set of lights from harbor freight and magnets for a welding ground clamp also from harbor freight. just extend the wires and use some kind of plug and the portable work lights clamps to the rops with the magnet. pretty simple and only there when you want them to be. I used a trailer 4-flat plug for mine. they are very handy. i'll see if I can find the tread and list it for you. or do a search on work lights and you should be able to find it. probally about early spring when it was posted. I got my stuff on sale at harbor freight and probally don't have $20 into it.

I originally started out with lights from Harbor Freight (4 of them) - the particular ones I got had a very poorly constructed tilt/swivel base (inherent in the design) For $7 per pair on sale I should have guessed .....

I ended up breaking one of them at the base on a low hanging limb. I got a larger pair (4 x 6) of replacements at TSC for around $25 - $30 which look to be made much better. Still haven't got around to installing them.

Pineridge used a set of snowplow lights that he mounted to his canopy that look very heavy-duty ..... significantly more expensive but they look like they are very well made and would take a good bit of abuse.

You guy's are on the ball, appreciate all the info. How did ya'll go about switching the lights? Can you tie into the existing light switch? I was concerned about running too much amperage through the factory switch, thought it might be better to come off the fuse block with a suitable switch. My little Farmtrac came with a 50 amp alternator so I won't have any problem pushing a few lights.

on my NH i have a live wire where my tail lights are. i just wired a trailer 4-flat into that and to ground. i only put the lights on the rops when i need them and plug them into the 4-flat. the nice thing about the magnets are you can put the lights on anything metal and in any direction and they stay put. if you hit a branch they get knocked off not broken off. when your done unplug them and put them back in your tool box.

I use a Brinkman magnetic base spotlight. I added a outdoor 12v outlet at the rear. I ran wire to the front for the hot.

The magnet is great. Good for snow, moving tree stands, clearing downed trees in the dark. Plenty of light around even though it is a spot.

I used Speaker brand Agri-Brite lites mounted on swivels, mod #6700. Pruchased from my local Kubota dealer. Cost ~$26 each, but have switches mounted integrally to the light housing. Pulled power from the fuse block and tied in the headlight switch with a 30Amp automotive relay. Here is link that I used.
