( At this point all she lacks is some touch up paint ont he lugnuts, and fender bolts, some on the headlamp bracket nut, and then decals, and then the padded orange seatcushion. Perhaps wednesday will be the 'finish' day?

In any case, I'll get some pics then, finished or not.)

Looking forward to the "after" shots. Thanks again for giving us the play-by-play.

Thanks. I thought the day to day posts, and the pics of the major changes might be a nice timeline forpeople to look at.

Kinda lets you look back and remember / see exactly what goes into these little machines to take them from the field to the parade /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now you just need a parade to go in! The local Christmas parade here just loves old tractors. My first year in with my Cub Scout float behind my Farmall-A, I also had a few other Farmalls and a JD along. Crowd dug it. The other guys have been going since then(4 years).

Wow, that really looks great, especially the cowling in the back.

The tires really stand out since everything else is AC orange (Which looks a little red in these photos.)

Are the letters on the decals black?

Soundguy,

I don't think many could appreciate the depth of the shine until your picture of the rear of the G was posted. Looks like you have mastered the BPS paint system. The rear of that model looks very much like a vintage Indy car.

Have caught a couple of RFDTV tractor shows and have not seen any Allis G look better, and in many cases not as good.

Very Nice. The transfers (decals) will be just enough eye candy to complement the whole restoration.

Regards, Mark

Thanks again for the very kind words guys.

As an update. When i got home from my double last night ( someone called in sick ) I say a ups envelope, and was happy to find that my backordered decals were here. I could have bought a cheap plastic set.. but I paid the extra money for the nice mylar transfers.

Robertn:

As a matter of fact.. on of the tractor shows I go to does have 2 parades a day. It is march 11th.. and I'm glad I had the tractor finished by then, as I intend to hit that parade. Last year I drove in it with my 52 8n, and the year before with my 46 2n.

Cliff: Thanks. That rear cowling was a bugger. I wish I had a pic of it when i got it from the salvage yard. I used a wire cup, and 2 different grade scotchbrite and 3M pads to go thru 3 layers of paint and rust. I took it down to shiny metal, and there was almost no pitting. Primed it, and on the day I shot it.. it got a tad cold.. the paint ran a little. I wasn't satisfied with it.. so i let it cire for 3 days and worked ont he rest of the tractor.. After the cure i decided it was not salvageable.. so I ground all the paint off again ( groan!.. 4 more hours of buffing... ) and once again primed it and then shot it.. turned out great.
The decals are mostly black.. however there are a few with white.. and one air cup service one with yellow.

Yep.. between the persian orange.. and my few year old digital camera.. it is comeing thru pretty red... not to mention.. I'm not good with photographty..

Mark : Thanks Yep.. I think I've finally got the mixing down on the BPS paint. Betweent he hardner, naptha and paint, etc.. it makes a nice thick glossy surface.. real hard too.. doesn't chip easilly.

Yep.. there are 2 hood decals, a tranny decal, an air and oil service decal.. and then a small electrical decal.. and that's it.

I had wallgreens take some of my digital pics and make prints for me.. great at 29 cents a piece.. good for the photo album.. I can show the before.. during, and after shots to prove I didn't buy it that way!

thanks for following guys.. I've put alot of sweat and emotion in on this little monster.. I was way attatched to it when i first saw it..

Looks like friday morning will be the final pic.. I'll have the seat cushion on.. and the decals placed, and the lugnuts and fender bolt heads touched up.
