I agree. Soon there will be no one left in/with jobs to afford anything. The selling of America...

GSXR-
It does my heart good to know there are others working out there how take pride in the work they do. The only thing that keeps me motivated and actually enjoy going to work each day is...me! It's MY attitude, it's MY pride in a job well done, it's ME knowing I am willing to do what it takes to get accomplished whatever task I'm assigned - regardless of what it takes. My Next Level Superior (Dept. manager) has a job to do too. He is not a baby sitter, and doesn't have time to be. I have worked several jobs since (and even in) high school. 2 of them have been for 10+ years. When I'm not happy with the JOB, I'm not productive and therefore not a benenfit to the company. I am all there is to making my job either a great place to be or a pain in the butt. If I'm not happy and can't change things to allow me to be happy in the workplace I will do what it takes to go find another job. No Company owes me anything. I do what I do for ME, which also benefits the company because I am productive in what ever I do. A company can't afford to keep jobs inhouse when the people on the workforce are not productive...period.

If someone doesn't like what they do, get some training, go to school, whatever it takes to make yourself capable of being productive at something then go find a job in that field.

I realize there are economically depressed areas around the country in which jobs are hard to find. It's up to each individual to get out and find work. Work that you like. Nobody needs you for an employee so bad they are going to move their company to you.

You'll notice I used alot of ME, MY and I's in this message. That's because, when it comes right down to it, that is all there is. The sooner employees wake up to that the better off they will be.

Wheh. Enough ranting. Better quit while I'm behind.

A late comment - I've worked for some type Governmental Agency for approximately 50 years. Believe it or not (Do I hear a violin playing?) we actually did produce - fighting fires in the Westen Mountains - 15-18 hours/day - 20 days at a time. Things changed dramatically when they started putting women in charge - they didn't care about production any longer, it was all planning, studies, etc. (Don't want my wife, daughters or grand-daughters to see this). Another big change when they allowed Unions in the govenment - Ron Reagan had it right - do your job, get back to work within 30 days or your fired. I see so much feather-bedding with many of the younger union type employes (and some older ones) that it's downright sickening. Not only do they avoid working, but most don't know how to work. Fileing grievances is their main activity. How's that for ranting?
