One of those docks in this is copper range. Worthless factoid. Imagine the 1st ore boat were loaded via ramp with man pushing wheel borrows of rock up them and into the ships holds. Then someone got the idea of keeping the ore cars trains high above the ships, then dump them in.
Yep, someone would be slapping their forehead!

According to that map and schedule, we will be in AR just a couple days before it goes thru town. I will probably stay to see it.

Sure sure, rub it in some. ;)

Sure, what are friends for.

Maybe it will stop in Little Rock. The tracks from there towards St Louis pass a couple miles from my sons college. Normally I would head back that Sunday, but big boy should be through by Wednesday if schedule doesn’t change. Course maybe it will go by after dark.

I kinda of like RR stuff and occasionally search and look for old tracks and such. They are digging up an old line in the town I am moving to in TN. So I decided to search and see where it went. Well in my search I learned that the town I moved to is kinda responsible for the laws that require school busses to stop at all RR crossings. Horrible story but RR related and somewhat interesting.

Artist and illustrator NC Wyeth along with his grandson, failed to stop and was killed at a railroad crossing in 1945. The railroad cuts through a farm where I grow hay. Its now a National Landmark.

If you didn't catch it somewhere most all of UP's Big Boys logged a million miles or more while in service. Can't say that about the gas turbines, DD-40s and other of their heavy haulers. IMO the Challengers should not be overshadowed by the Alleghenys* and other bigger engines. btw, IIRC none did as well as compounds and few it any remained as such. (USN used triple compounds with both coal and oil-fired boilers.)

It will be so far south and in warm weather, so we'll not be able to make it. For everyone who lives down them, please get some photos and post them here.
