Working rail roads and their tracks.

There's an old railroad line that started in Laramie Wyoming and went up into the mountains and I think ended around the Colorado boarder. It was used initially to haul out timbers to make ties. Then it turned into a tourist train and I rode it as a little kid with my mom and grandma. Unfortunately when the price of scrap metal went high, they tore it up for scrap. A **** shame.

There's old railroads all over southern Wyoming and northern Colorado. Mostly to haul ore and timber out of the mountains. Lots of history rr history around here, people come from all over to experience it.

Ugh! I hate that. I want to explore Wyoming while Im still able to hike and see those historic railroads. On a much smaller scale, we had a tramway in my little town that connected to one of our main railroads that served a Feldspar mine.

Hey, I did have something new to add: a barn find. Found a super heavy steel post. Bout 11 tall and 15 wide. A big W at the top. I assume W means whistle? Like blow whistle when approaching?

Narrow gauge RR's we common for logging operations. We had many of them across the upper peninsula (UP) of MI and the company's pulled the tracks and moved them to the next operation when done. These old grades are easily found today.

Here is some info on all the train history around these parts. The railroad built this area, all the towns were railroad towns. Some deep history here, in fact we have a big boy in a park that they just fully restored to it's former glory. It's hard to understand the scale until your upclose to one. I will take a picture next time I am walking the dog there.

The Ozarks of Missouri had many tram roads for logging all the Oak for RR ties. Spurs, possibly narrow gauge, off the main line.

In the 70's there was srill an abandoned rail line near the family farm. My grandfather said they could hear the racket from over a away when it was being built. We once went to look at the old water tank, it was rusted steel and I felt like I'd traveled back in time.
