2021 yanmar sa324, 1971 ford 2000 gas
We bought a 2021 324 and all three pieces of hay equipment this year. We also run a Kubota B7610, and 1971 Ford 2000 Gas. All our equipment is used daily and works pretty hard. The 324 has loaded turf tires, the FEL, and pulls really well. We use it often with a 72 inch 800lb plus land pride drag, and also with a 185 bushel New Idea 210 spreader. This tractor handles much harder work than the Identical powered 7610. It is almost as hard a worker as the old Ford, but not quite. The ford out weighs it by 2k pounds and has 20hp on it too as it has been turned up to 3000 specs.

I love it and mostly because it's a simple farmers style machine like the old ford.

Ah another satisfied Yanmar Fever owner!

Even for the older Yanmar's we still hold our own as well. My machine can hold up to a Ford 3000 gasser 2WD, but not the diesel.

What sized round bales are you making. I like them.

They are the mini rounds. They are 22x28. They weigh about 50lbs as we have it set now. So close to a small square weight and size.

All the equipment is Yanmar too. The baler, rake and mower. We put up over 2k of the bales this year. All 3 pieces are 3 point mounted and designed to be a good fit to the 324/424 lines. Initially we were just getting the implements and using the Kubota and Ford. But my wife wanted a second Hydrostatic tractor as she hates the old Fords clutch. So we bought the 324 and it's been a life saver.

The Ford was down with a Hydro leak at second cutting so it was all subcompact work that time. The 324 is same HP as the Kubota, but built more like a farm tractor and handles the baler and mower well. The Kubota will do the baler OK, but is at its absolute limits. I won't even try the mower on it. The Ford still gets the nod for mowing, the weight and extra 20 hp is a plus, and I like the set and forget speed aspect of gear tractors for mowing.

I might add a 235 to the stable in a year or two. Really like the Yanmar so far and it's a true fuel sipper. It ran all day at PTO speeds raking, mowing and baling and used on average about 1.3 to 1.5 gph. The Ford though is pretty good for a gasser at under 2gph at 2k rpms

This is a really good thread. Thanks! If I had to get into raking and baling, the Yanmar setup seems to be good at that.

Trying to get a video of it running to post but can't seem to get it to work

Just found this thread after discovering that hay equipment on You Tube.

So they all work good Mausermark? The baler has been dependable? That compact hay equipment is perfect for small hobby farms and equine owners.

Back in the 50's I worked for a farmer baling hay,
we put up 1500 bales of green hay 125 lb average
weight needless to say his barn burned down this
happened 3 years in a row as he got the big milking
parlor and big barn that the insurance paid for. Green
hay will burst into flames but he knew what he was doing. I had to put every one of those bales 7 bales
high while two guys stacked them.

How do you handle those bales? Can you pick them up by grabbing the twine or do you use hooks?
