Working The Angles

   / Working The Angles #11
I have the 5410, but the 5310 is a real nice machine too. If you can finangle a better deal on a 5310 versus a 5320, I consider doing it if the price difference makes it attrative enough.

I have the power-reverser transmission. I love it, but it does add quite a bit to the cost of the tractor, but is a real pleasure to use, especially if you do a lot of loader work (back and forth, back and forth). At the time the dealer told me that almost nobody buys the collar-shift tranny, except govt types who need to accept the lowest bidder. He offered that when you buy the power-reverser tranny you are basically paying for you first transmission rebuild ahead of time (in other words, with the better transmission you won't need to rebuild for quite a while). Not sure if it is true or not, but I am glad I have it.

To be honest, I wasn't going to pay the extra for a power-reverser tranny, opting instead to go with the sync-shuttle, but the dealer threw it in at no extra charge because I agree to buy the one on the lot (new) instead of having him order one...it was late in the season and he didn't want to get stuck with it over the winter.

Anyway, good luck, but I'd go for the power-reverser if you can get it, or at least the syncshuttle...maybe you could get a 5310 with the power-reverser for the same cost as the newer 5320 with the syncshuttle??
