Did we forget what Pearl Harbour Vengence Brought

<font color=red>On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. In minutes, half of the city vanished. According to U.S. estimates, 60,000 to 70,000 people were killed or missing as a result of the bomb. Deadly radiation reached over 100,000. On August 8, the USSR declared war on Japan. On August 9, the United States dropped an even more powerful bomb on Nagasaki. According to U.S. estimates, 40,000 people were killed or never found as a result of the second bomb. </font color=red>
On MSNBC this evening they are painted the Sept 11, 2001 as the biggest loss of life and stated several other major events, Pearl Harbour and D-day which had fewer lives lost.

this isn't a subject that will ever be solved by debate ... but there are two pictures that will be burned into my mind for a long time, if not forever ... one is the planes being rammed into the towers and the aftermath ... and the other is men, women and children dancing with glee over the murdered Americans.
I'm sorry ... you can believe all the rhetoric from followers of Islam that you want ... but I've now seen true evil and true hate ... and you'll have to go a long, long way to change my current horror. And that would include stopping the indoctrination of hate into the children ... and using them as cannon fodder!

I don't expect Iraq-like bombing of Afghanistan. There isn't anything left to bomb. I believe the concentration will be on intelligence gathering, resulting in some sort of extraction operation. There might also be a general invasion by ground troops, but I think the emphasis will be on the bad guys, and not on destroying whats left of the country, or killing civilians.
The Russians killed more than a million Afghanistanis and lost 20,000 themselves in 10 years. They didn't accomplish a damn thing, and we won't either unless we specifically target the bad guys. I hope we can get it done.
This kind of operation will be extremely dangerous. I pray for our guys (and gals) that are involved in this.
This is only the beginning, and is necessary for our children and grandchildren. Terrorism will only get worse, as long as there are religious extremists who believe (do they really?) that they can go to heaven if they can die killing Americans.
These extremists are not mainstream muslims, anymore than the KKK and right-wing militia are mainstream christians.
I pray that ***** Bin Laden and his followers, and others like him go down.

Anyone remember the joy exhibited by Americans on world wide TV when our smart bombs smacked targets in Iraq?
I'm sure that footage is used to indoctrinate how "evil" the US is. 3 seconds of video and commentary from a biased view point are not enough to pass judgement on an entire religous belief or group of people. I heard someone once say "what we consider indoctrination for opposing viewpoints, we call patriotism for our own children." Don't know if I agree with this but it does add fuel to the fire.
And before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm NOT comparing what the terrorists did to the justified use of US military in the Gulf War.
