Worst Equipment you ever owned

Growing up we had a Roof "push type" riding mower. (8hp briggs with a rope wrapper starter, maybe a 36" single blade deck) It used a friction drive type of affair that never worked right and I usually wound up pushing the rig around the yard because as a 100lb lad, I was too heavy for it to carry me.

How's that for safety equipment? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yep, my first power mower, with a Clinton engine, and the first outboard motors I used had the same kind of pull starter.

I owned an outboard like that. I caught a nice bass when my backcast of the starter rope landed in the water behind me. Before he could turn loose of the knot he was in the boat!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've always had problems with the Ronomatic. Muffler bearing were a daily issue. I also had a kanuder valve go south and piston bolts always kept me working.

Sorry... I had to throw that in.

That was the first recoil starter. When the knot came off the starter cup and smacked your arm you would recoil with pain! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep about 3 or 4 lbs. Have you ever tried to find a muffler bearing or wobble gasket for one of those though ? Really hard to find and the people you ask just look at you like you are crazy or something. I will never buy another henweigh, they are junk and you can't get parts.

That is easy, All the no name or weird name equipment including the below:

Homelight weed trimmer (leaked and never started right)
Dewalt 18v drill: (battery was junk; bought 3 more and the drill went in trash)
Sears/Craftman Pressue washer (leaked oil from day 1)

It wasn't mine; it belong to a buddy that worked for the University of Texas TV station in Austin.

The problem equipment was an air bearing assembly. The assembly was so sensitive to outside air (air not contained and restrained within its styrofoam container) that no one was allowed to ever peek inside the air bearing assembly.

The outer container was boldly stenciled: Caution -- Air Bearing Assembly, Do Not Open Under Any Circumstances, which kept even the security guard at the studio's entrance from peeking inside the styrofoam container -- which contained the evening shift's supply of containerized lubricant. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
