Worst tractor ever

IDK if I would say a "worst tractor," but I've used tractors that I liked less than others. Much of it is likely do to being different than what I'm used to instead of them being necessarily bad machines.

I worked for this farmer for a while when I was a kid and he had a couple of Long tractors that he liked to put me on. I mean they got the job done and they never have any major issues that I can remember while I worked for him but Long just was never my favorite tractor brand. Other brands that I grew up using that I liked much better were Ford, JD, International, MF, and Allis-Chalmers.

I think some that say all tractors are good, prob should look closely at some Chinese stuff, and then go ask your local Ag place that sells stuff for many brands and see the look on their face when you tell them your going to buy a Wing Chun Fu.....the look with be like the last part of that fictitious name

It probably was not a bad tractor, but it sure was to my Great Grandfather.

He was a Farmall Man, and yet while mowing hay he got his tractor stuck in a sag in one of our fields. The John Deere salesman just happened to come by just then, saw his predicament, and said, "Fred, had you bough a John Deere you would not have gotten stuck."

So pretty upset, my Great Grandfather said, "Well if your John Deere can mow this field without getting stuck, I'll buy the !@#$%^& thing." So the dealer had one hauled down, and sure enough it mowed the next swath without getting stuck so he was obligated to buy the tractor.

That did not mean he liked it though...

So they were always after him to talk about his new John Deere and wanted him to talk about it up to the Maine Potato Board's annual convention. He kept refusing, but they would not take no for an answer, so they came down and picked him up even just to be sure he was there. So they get up on stage, and start by saying, "Well this is Fred Track, he has five tractors and farms 400 acres of potatoes, and he wants to tell you all about his new John Deere."

So he gets up there and says, "Boys, I think you are a bit confused, because you see I have 4 tractors, and 1 John Deere."

He later said it was a VERY quiet ride home.

My least favorite tractor to operate was a Ford 2N. No live hydraulics, had to have the PTO engaged to raise the 3 point hitch. The "position control" if you want to call it that would never hold position...always crept up or down. Had the left brake on the left side of the transmission hump and the right brake on the right side of the hump. How can you step on the clutch and hit the brakes without making a powerbrake right turn? The distributor was in the worst place possible. One day while mowing the thing overheated and I found that the v-belt pulley had unscrewed from the generator and flown who knows where...never did find it.

Worst tractor ever? No such thing. Never met a tractor I didn't like!

lol...use the third leg Luke.... is that why people like the 2000, 3000, 4000 s so much ?
