Stubble,

Thanks for the post. That was very funny and you gave me a laugh.

What part of Saskatchewan are you in? I have family in and around P.A.

The sad thing is that it looks a lot like the notes I get from some of the engineers and technicians that work for me. And, all but one was born in this country. The one who wasn't born and raised in this country writes pretty well.

I bought a cheap .22 cal. Chinese airgun and scope a while back and the manuals were both in Chinglish or some such. Also not very informative. Fortunately I have a bit of experience with these sorts of things.

Down in our neck of the woods, we hear a lot of Spanglish and then there are the *** with their cajun talking which is a kind of Frenglish or something. It is always interesting to try and make out what they are saying.

Eddie, I live near Regina in the south east part of Saskatchewan. P.A. is about 4 hours north of us. Nice country up there. I used to live in Saskatoon which is only 1.5 hours from P.A. We would go camping and hunting all around there. They actually have trees and lakes unlike us in the south.

Anyone seen a worse translation?

I was in Thailand for a few years. My friends and I would kind of collect bad translations such as this. Having an English translation on a product was almost a status symbol over there at the time.

My favorite was the can of flea powder that instructed the user to "Pulverize the dog weekly with XYZ Flea Powder. Do not Pulverize in or near the eyes."

This one with the grease gun, however, is definately a contender for the worst translation ever.

I recently picked up a cheap grease gun as a spare for my tractor. It is a good thing that I know how to use one. After reading the instructions that came with the Chinese made gun, I'm not even sure it applies to what I bought. Anyone seen a worse translation?

We deal with quite a few 3rd world countries in our business, and we call that "pig english" around here. We're actually used to it and it's pretty funny when we email them and start doing the same thing.

Have your good self please submit pricing again. (see what I mean)

It reminds me of the directions on how to change a tire on an old MG.
1. Open the Boot
2. Remove spare tire.
3. Open Bonnet and locate jack.
4. Jack up auto.
5. Using leather mallet provided, address hub smartly in a counter clockwise direction
6. using spanner remove hub, and then wheel.
7. Install new wheel and tire in reverse order.
8. Remove auto from jack and store equipment in appropriate places.

How did Churchill say it? "Two peoples separated by a common language."

I was reading the label on a jar of peanut butter yesderday that said "warning: contains peanuts"
