Would a L2501HST be adequate for my needs?

The L2501 handles a 5ft brush hog, (mine does very well) but it cuts heavy field grass pretty slowly. I cut small fields for a side business and it works but I wish I had more power sometimes. Its offset by not having to worry about emissions equipment issues though.

The biggest fields I cut are about 7 acres. A ten acre field would be a a couple day job for me. With a bigger machine and 6ft cutter, I bet you could whip that out much faster. And now is the time to buy as much tractor as you can.

Having had an L2501, you could get by with it for the tasks you listed however if your budget could get you into an L4701, you would have more weight and power for future needs. I ended up buying an L4060. The 2501 didn't have the weight I needed to regrade my 1400 foot road. The 2501 is a great tractor, I just outgrew it.

I'm def want to get a front end loader, and grapple. What other implements are good to have for my needs? I want to be able to dig up earth a bit - will a standard from end loader work or will I need something with teeth?

I like the size of the L2501 and lack of emissions;we have two similar sized Kubota's in the family and are very nice machines;I think you make like the MX series better in the long run.Mx over the L4701 for greater loader capacity/bigger tires.

A toothbar is a must for digging. i have two tractors with standard bolt on toothbars and one with a pirrahna. i love all three but i think the pirrana digs a little better. But the regular teeth make loading things with a chain much easier.

I gather these are bolt on attachments to the FEL?

you may not want to spend 2-3 days slowly, and carefully mowing grass with the L2501!..

It's a lot cheaper to buy a big enough tractor the first time....You want a grapple and such...the weight of those attachments subtract from your advertised lifting specs :)

mx series, can't imagine anything less for your acreage. pushing undersized machines to their limit is both labor intensive and possibly unsafe. mx will cover your unknown future needs as well. you already have a good zero turn....get something substantial beyond that
consider an extra rear remote & hyd top link. you'll thank yourself down the road

New home is on 40 acres - about 15 acres of fields, rest in woods and ponds. I purchased a 54" Husqvarna Zero-turn and have been usig that to trim the 5 acres around the house. I want to get something to bushhog the rest and clear and maintain an old ATV trail around perimiter of property through the woods. Have about 400 yards of gravel road to maintain also. Will want to be able to spread gravel - clear snow.

I also want to use tractor to move some old hay bales ( round about 5' - 6' in size) into a berm for shooting.

Have a 6 car garage with converntional sized doors that I will store tractor in.....

....Looking for input from current/past L2501HST owners - do you think it can handle moving 6' round bales of hay?

To answer your question, maybe. A 2501 can certainly move and position your bales around but might not lift them completely, or if so very high.

Other than that, as to a tractor for what you're wanting to accomplish I think a L2501 will do just fine, at least I hope so because I recently purchased an L2501 for doing about the same tasks as you want to. My 4 little pastures probably total 15 acres and I'll be cutting them all down once in late Summer. I don't need to blitzkrieg through them in one day in fact I'll enjoy the extra tractor time doing them separately in 1/2 day chunks over a week or two. As far as snow removal the bucket's 66" wide so two bucket widths are more than enough to clear my drive. Yeah if an 80' tree falls you may need to cut it into 15' lengths to pick it up rather than 20'+ with a larger tractor but that leaves me shorter logs to manage and what... one extra chain saw cut?

In essence an L will do most, if not everything a larger tractor will for you, just not quite as fast.

I've only had mine for a few days now but so far really like it. It operates so smoothly, I drove it around some of my UTV trails and it fit just fine but I really wouldn't want one any wider.
