Would it work to use a billiards table slate top piece for a welding table surface?

Why do some of you suggest I sell the slate? Is it worth something other than to build a pool table? BTW, one of the three pcs is broken, that is why it is available.

Well, you don't a welding table, and you have slate, but that wouldn't make a good welding table, so you can't turn the slate into a welding table but you can turn it into money, which you can put towards a welding table.
